How to Measure
Body Measurements:
You'll need: a soft tape measure and a mirror (bonus points for a friend to assist!)
It's always good practice to NOT measure over bulky clothes to achieve the most accurate measurements.
Start by finding your natural waist. For most people this is above your navel and is often the smallest part of your torso. Without sucking in or pushing out your stomach, get your best measurement as you stand relaxed.
Next you'll need your Hip measurement. This is achieved by measuring around the "juiciest" part of your booty/thigh. Everyone is slightly different, so make sure you're measuring the widest part of that area - sometimes it's your upper thigh, sometimes it's the middle of the seat. I like to do this several times and take the largest measurement to assure your jeans will accommodate.
Garment Measurements:
It's always a good idea to know how to measure your clothes so that you can better determine the perfect fit for yourself. Here's a cheat sheet for the best way to take your own garment measurements. All of these measurements should be taken with the garment laying flat on a flat surface.
Inseam measurements vary from pant to pant depending on the cut of the garment. To ensure the most accurate inseam length, measure a pair of your favorite length pants from center crotch to bottom of hem. Make sure your garment is laid perfectly flat and that you "walk" the tape measure down the leg, following the curve.
Waistband: Make sure your pants are zipped/buttoned. Lay the waistband on itself and get it as flat as you can. Carefully measure from one side to the other and then double your measurement.
Hip Find the bottom of the fly opening and use that as your reference point. Lay your pants flat, smoothing out any wrinkles. Measure straight across from one side seam to the other at the bottom of the fly and then double your measurement.
